SSIC code lookup

A Standard Subject Identification Code (SSIC) is the four- or five-digit number that classifies a Navy or Marine Corps document by subject. It's the first identification symbol on a naval letter, and it determines how the document is filed and retrieved. The full catalog is published in SECNAV M-5210.2.

Unofficial. An independent tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Navy or DoD. Verify codes against the current official SECNAV M-5210.2.

The yeomanizer has the complete catalog — about 2,200 codes — built in and searchable by number or keyword (try "awards," "legal," or "5216"). Pick a code and it drops straight into the identification block of your letter. The search runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
